Machine concept

Customers have long wanted a portal machine based on the proven POSmill E 2050. POS has responded to this request and developed the POSmill H 2200 U on the basis of a portal machine. Here, the head is pivoted by torque drive and the 5. axis in an integrated rotary table. This concept enables unprecedented degrees of freedom. Optionally, tools up to 1,250 mm in length can be used to drill deep holes, for example. An interference circuit of 1,900 mm enables the machining of oversized parts in this class. In this case, cast steel is used as a homogeneous building material in order to ensure uniform thermal behaviour. Today, one often hears of so-called mineral casting. This should be thermally even better than cast steel. But is it really? In this case, however, it is repeatedly “concealed” that you then have to screw linear guides made of steel onto this mineral casting (synthetic resin + concrete). That is to say, two materials with two different coefficients of expansion meet one another. Tensions arise between the two materials. The expansion advantage is thus eliminated. Then why is mineral casting still used? The answer is in the price! The production costs are only ¼ as high as in the case of cast steel. Do you get this price advantage from the machine manufacturers, or does the shareholder get this price advantage? POS relies on cast steel for technical reasons in order to be technically optimally positioned. At 30 tons, it is massive like no other. And in this class, despite the higher investment, a pricecracker seeking its equal. Something you must have seen.

Interior space

Large Parts – Large Interior. As with the 3-axis POS E 2050, the customer has the option of positioning excessively long parts in the X direction by opening the windows. The table has a width of 1,200 mm and overlays the Y-axis 1,400 mm. This ensures a clear fall in chips with reduced chip esters. Since the chips fall directly to the left and right of the table into two chip conveyors and from there consistently land in an ascending conveyor.

Secure step grids allow the operator access to the interior. In this way, the ergonomics in this size class are optimally designed.

The exchange of the tools takes place collision-free in the horizontal spindle position. Long tools can be changed without colliding with the large workpiece.


Full equipment is the motto at POS.
