Regardless of whether demanding materials have to be machined with the highest precision in tool and mould making. Or in part production aluminium, steel, stainless steel or cast iron must be machined.

Full simultaneous capability is guaranteed by the torque drives installed as standard in the axes of rotation. In this way, the possibility of use is even better and the success is obvious.

Machine concept

The gantry design has prevailed here. All linear axes are mounted at the top and are thus subject to almost no dirt accumulation. At the same time, the large bearings of the axes of rotation can be integrated in the machine base body. In this way, a maximum stiffness is achieved thanks to the design and YRT bearings. If you look closely at a gantry, it offers optimal chip removal, almost without rinsing. The funnel shape of the interior makes this possible. In this case, cast steel is used as a homogeneous building material in order to ensure uniform thermal behaviour. Today, one often hears of so-called mineral casting. This should be thermally even better than cast steel. But is it really? In this case, however, it is repeatedly “concealed” that you then have to screw linear guides made of steel onto this mineral casting (synthetic resin + concrete). That is to say, two materials with two different coefficients of expansion meet one another. Tensions arise between the two materials. The expansion advantage is thus eliminated.

Then why is mineral casting still used? The answer is in the price! The production costs are only ¼ as high as in the case of cast steel. Do you get this price advantage from the machine manufacturers, or does the shareholder get this price advantage? POS relies on cast steel for technical reasons in order to be technically optimally positioned.

With 13 tons, the “small POS” is as massive as big ones from the competition. At the same time, 4 linear guides in the Y-axis ensure reserves in all positions.

Anyone who has worked on a 5-axis machine is familiar with this phenomenon. A large table with a small piece in the middle. Now there are two possibilities. Either you build up through a high clamping tower to get to the part with the big head, or you work with long tools. Both entail instability, inaccuracy and long runtimes. That’s where the transformation artist comes in. Here, the operator can easily change the table top himself.

So it is possible to install a 400, 500 or even 600 table top in minutes to get the most out of it. For automation, there is a fourth plate and an integrated zero-point clamping system to avoid tower construction.

It has learned a lot from the long-established POSmill H 800 U. Leadership strengths, spindle and also the concept were adopted 1:1 in order to maintain the tried and tested and to create an optimum for smaller parts.

Interior space

Stainless steel as far as the eye can see. Top ergonomics for the operator and automatic convertible roof for optimal loading for heavy parts. At the same time, even the front door is rinsed in order to keep it free of chips. Chip fall is optimal due to the funnel-shaped interior space and these are consistently transported away by the conveyor.
